Muskoka has long been one of my favorite places in the world. I’ve been going since I was a little girl and there’s something so simple and so magical about it that keeps bringing you back.

Try Snowshoeing with Algonquin Adventure Tours

If downhill skiing isn’t for you, then give snowshoeing a try… And trust me when I tell you it is an absolute workout. There are lots of spots in Muskoka for snowshoeing, but there’s something so magical about Algonquin Provincial Park that everyone needs to experience. Algonquin Adventure Tours offers a snowshoeing  tour that lasts three hours and can take up to eight people. Snowshoes and lunch from Henrietta's Pine Bakery are included. You’ll learn about the history of the park, the ecology and so much more in your time with Stuart Lorne Letovsky, founder of the company.

Ride a Snowmobile Through Ontario’s Most Popular Trails

Those looking to rev their engines have definitely come to the right place.... With over 1,600 kilometres of snowmobiling trails, I can definitely see why Muskoka is one of the most travelled regions in all of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC). A great track to welcome you to the region and the world of snowmobiling is the Muskoka Magic Loop in Southern Muskoka, which covers roughly 125 kilometr

Go Ice Fish on Lake Muskoka, Itself

If there’s one thing that Muskoka is known for, it’s its thousands of lakes that become an absolute paradise for ice fishers in the winter. Lake Trout and whitefish tend to be common catches in the region, but there is a wide variety of marine life here in Muskoka. And if you’re new to ice fishing, a great spot to get started is on Lake Muskoka, itself. For the full experience, you could rent a hut right on the like with groups, like Muskoka Shores. I like to say it really takes accommodation on the water to a whole new level!

Head Down the Hills at Hidden Valley Highlands

To me, winter in Ontario just isn’t the same unless you’ve hit the slopes. Hidden Valley Highlands is up in Huntsville, and is the perfect spot to carve some snow. Even if you’re like me and not exactly the next Shaun White, it’s a great place to just get outside and enjoy the season. Regardless of your ski or snowboarding level, there’s a hill for you, making it a great option for groups ranging in experience.  The first thing you may notice is its gorgeous views of the surrounding lakes, but it’s definitely the friendly people and sense o

Liv Outside in Bracebridge offers amazing expeditions for a range of difficulty levels and even does private tours. Tours include gear, guidance and some of the best conditions out there. Each is six hours, except for the ice-climbing and backcountry ski package, which lasts all day.
